This particular article deals with the advancement of computer design and suggest designing computers based on the human brain. Although some may think, how can computers become any more technologically savvy others push the envelope to question and develop new ways for computers to process information. As the article states, at this moment in time computers are just really advanced, fast computing devices. Computers do not process information with the same intellectual pattern that us humans do. This idea, very similar to artificial intelligence, will allow computers to process “complex strings of information” the way we do which is by the chemical communication that turns sensations into actions.
I feel this is an innovated idea because it will change the way human’s use and view computers. It is really the second generation of computer technology. If successful computers will be able to do just about anything humans do. We will be able to essentially use computers in every aspect of our lives. Because of these advancements not only will computers aide us, they will replace us. If a computer can think and process information the way we do, why would we do it at all? While this is a very stimulating idea it is also scary. Growing technology that replaces humans and tasks we do has a handful of effects on our culture. Unfortunately these effects can be negative or positive. In a positive way computers that think like humans can help save people’s lives. Computers will now be able to detect a patient in distress and perform a task that will save them by thinking as a human. The army can use these new computers to detect threats and warn troops. People will interact way less than they already do because they just won’t have to. People will become lazy and think less because computers will be able to substitute them. Men and women will loose jobs that we thought computers will never be able to fulfill. Again, while this idea is very innovative, if not used properly the effects can be negative.

Computers based on the human brain, I believe, is a horrible idea. Im not sure if i have been so poisoned with movies, such as I Robot, that have tried to fictionally depict what would happen if computers did have "reason" but the idea just doesnt seem natural or right. We use computers today to make our lives easier and more efficient, but there is a line between using computers and being dependent on them. I do feel that the negative aspects will definitely outweigh the positive aspects on our society if this idea of computers being reasonable, thinking objects. First, and probably foremost, is our economy. I agree with the post about the job world-I could only imagine what would happen if computers could do what we could and react to random events as quickly and efficiently as the human brain does. Why would ANYONE in the country pay a person a wage when they could purchase a robot computer to do the task with minimal costs throughout its life, plus Mr. Computer will never be late or absent because it will do what its told or programmed. But that brings us to my former point, regarding pop culture, and the fact that the idea of artificial intelligence is ALWAYS a negative thing and I cant think of the last movie with AI that didnt involve disaster (i.e. Eagle Eye, I Robot, Smart House, etc).
Sure, it sounds great to say I want a robot friend to do my laundry and walk my dog and go to work for me. But before they make the move to this technology they should seriously consider some of the negative repercussions and not just be focused on being that guy who revolutionized the world for 4 yrs before the robots took over and killed us all. Haha just kidding but seriously I dont like the idea of a computer thinking like I do...
